How to Ensure You Receive Visa Revocation Notices

According to a recent meeting between AILA and the Department of State in which Visa revocations by the consular posts was discussed.  During this discussion the DOS indicated the following:

In general, DOS issues NIVs with multiple entries for an extended period of time; every single visa holder is continually vetted during the validity of the visa. If new information comes to light that may affect a visa holder’s eligibility, or if a visa is being revoked, DOS will notify the visa holder by using the email address provided on the DS-160. The student may then submit a new application and schedule an
interview to provide information and/or documentation to demonstrate they continue to be entitled to the visa. If a student no longer has access to the email provided on the DS-160, they may notify the post that the email address has changed using the Visa Navigator for the issuing post.

DOS does not and will not contact the student’s school to notify them that a visa has been revoked. DOS may only contact the applicant due to privacy issues.

So it is VITALLY IMPORTANT to update whichever post granted your visa if your email changes.  That way you will receive the notice they send and can contest the revocation of your visa with the DOS.  Also, you also may have a stronger claim against any action if the DOS fails to send any email.
