Reminder: H-1B filing date fast approaching

imagesJust a reminder to those looking to file an H-1B under the cap for this coming fiscal year.  The filing deadline is most likely April 7, 2016.  Generally, USCIS will accept all applications for H-1Bs under the cap for the first 5 business days of April.  If they received more than the statutory maximum (65,000 plus 20,000 for the master’s cap) they will conduct a lottery for ALL cases received on or prior to the 5th business date (although they have not issued any guidance as of yet for this year, this is their standard guidance for past years).  As USCIS has received more than 150,000 H-1B application the last several years running, this means that all such applications must be filed and received by USCIS by April 7th.

Anyone wishing to file such an application should get started soon.
