USCIS asks Court to Extend Stay on STEM OPT

Just last week USCIS requested the Judge overseeing the case relating to STEM OPT extensions to extend the stay that vacated the rule until May 10, 2016.  Originally, the stay was set to expire (meaning that the STEM OPT rule would no longer be in effect, and the 17 months extension would be invalid) on February 12, 2016.  USCIS asked for the stay as it stated that it could not get through the over 50,000 comments it has received regarding the new rule it published recently in response to the Court Case.

We will update you on whether the Court grants the motion or not as soon as we hear.
